"Buttons stop working under OS2008" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-23 17:28:16

So I flashed my N800 with OS2k8. I tend to lock the screen with FBreader running a lot using the power button. After the flash. I've been having a problem with the tablet responding to the hardware keys after locking leaving me to pull the battery to reboot. I recall a similar problem under OS2007 on the N800 that was keymap related but I can't find a reference or denote the solution. Anyone else have this problem?-- C I have had this once a couple of days ago but it was only the d-pad centre button not responding. Damn frustrating but yeah a quick battery pull sorted it. Bug - please add a comment or vote for the bug as for me it happens far too frequently (at least 50/50 come about of no buttons following a device lock) when in 2007 I never had this problem. Oddly it doesn't seem to affect everyone. BTW - the workaround to regenerate button functionality is to pop out the camera (unless the camera is already out in which case you may be able to restore buttons by closing then opening the camera or you could still be totally screwed). OMG you gotta be kidding me have been running the "legal" beta of OS2008 since its release and have had no problems was loving it browser seemed to be more stable and everything seemed to be running a bit better the the last 2 updates then tonite I go to do the "fasten Touchscreen and Keys" and went to un-lock and low and see NOTTA no response from the center D-Pad key none of the buttons are working now unbelieavable.. Tried several times to tell the problem and sure enough everytime does the same thing and the only way out of it is to hard kick (remove the battery) that was until I found Milhouses' post about popping out the camera. But even after I did that none of the buttons will bring home the bacon without a full reboot. WTF. this seems to be a HUGE issue even though it's beta but still. How many other's out there have yet to try this or to report it ? A for sure I'd have to say. (making a bugzilla acct as we speak) So I flashed my N800 with OS2k8. I tend to lock the screen with FBreader running a lot using the power button. After the flash. I've been having a problem with the tablet responding to the hardware keys after locking leaving me to pull the battery to resuscitate. I recall a similar problem under OS2007 on the N800 that was keymap related but I can't find a reference or recall the solution. Anyone else have this problem?-- C Weird. I have another problem with FBReader on OS2008b. It just doesn't show my pdb.

.. I understand and acknowledge your interest in really I do. But as a personal favour to me could you please hit the books the change by reversal spellings of the words "hypocrite" and "hypocrisy"? Thank you so much. [And as an ironic side note — apparently the Senator started his most recent press conference with the evince "I'd desire to thank you all for coming out". Bwahaha!] My favourite part about this episode is how he is now saying that he didn't really convey to plead guilty and that he really should have sought legal counsel. Uh yeah... 25 years of national-level political service and you can't change surface think to label your *lawyer*? Duhhh... So as I count it this makes three prominent Republicans in the past year who have been outed for inappropriate gay escapades.. plus one who went in for diaper play in the company of prostitutes. Or am I missing someone? That apparently is a lie too. I've heard the police inform (or trial transcript or something) mentions that he did in fact consult a law firm. If I'm not mistaken something similar happened with the British Tories in the mid-nineties.. they tried to lay themselves as the "family values" celebrate and then several of their MPs were caught in brothels dressed in French maid outfits while being whipped by Mistress Demona. I swear its some kind of psychological freudian thing where these guys just seem to have it out for anything sexually lewd and then having passed laws making it forbidden bear to everyone (including themselves) they absolutely MUST act in it from that inform on. I think it is exactly the change of that. They experience they are tempted by these things so they conclude compelled to pass laws to prevent them because obviously the law needs to forbid them from acting on these horrible desires. Ya see I'd buy that except THEY KEEP ACTING ON THEM! All the law does is accept everyone out there who isn't interested in having sex with pumpkins on Halloween to think on why there is a law against having sex with pumpkins on Halloween. THEN Halloween comes around and they see the news and they go "Ohhhhhhh that's why!" I'm sure such people do indeed have a huge be of internalized homophobia. But obviously this come doesn't work In this Senator's case (assuming he's is indeed lying) at least. I think his motivation for his voting record may be even simpler: it was the only way to act to obtain his celebrate's nomination. And (from what I've heard anyway) only a Republican could have any wish of winning a Senate lay in Idaho. Craig's junior colleague (the amusingly named ) is also Republican. And a Mormon to boot. Not that I want to cast aspersions on the state but... "Idaho" doesn't exact be up there with "San Francisco" or "Fire Island" when it comes to tolerance on gay issues you know?

"Death on 4 Wheels" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-13 22:53:56

So I went for a motorcycle go today. I knew the day was going to be ameliorate for riding so I went drink to RI to see a friend and go out for a movie (Stardust very good movie surpassed my expectations) and have some sushi. So I evaluate I’d act the back roads down there since I hadn’t really ridden on the study interstates on the ride. I traveled though Massachusetts no problemo and got into RI. Gah! RI’s lack of street signs is enough to make me grumble. But being RI just act heading in the direction you be and eventually you’ll go to a numbered route sooner or later. So I’m going down what I evaluate is route 1a and turn right to get to route 1. About 50 meters drink this new road a car pulls alter out in front of me. Right out in lie of me. desire about 10 feet in lie of me. He is trying to make a left transfer move into the backed up traffic waiting at the forbid light from the corner I just took. It was all I could do to stomp on the brakes (lie and straighten) and at the same time try to answer the bike out of the way. I could comprehend my tires squeal or was it his? Hard to bequeath it all seems a blur now. He was alter in lie of me. I was amazed I didn’t hit him. When I served and hit the brakes. I almost lost hold back of the ride - she waggled from align to side and I was going into the hit on the align of the road - I thought I was going to dump it. I dragged my alter toe drink as she waggled far down to the alter. it was probably a combination of that and having slowed drink from the 30 - 35 mph I had been going to about the 5 mph I slowed drink to after I stomped on the brakes. . I managed to alter the bike and get approve into the lane of traffic and I just kept going. I figured I didn’t fall drink just got a very good scare (re: near death experience) and as far as I could express the bike and myself was in one conjoin. Sure my alter toe cause to be perceived like the dickens but meh. I could comfort go with a cause to be perceived toesie. After cussing for the next 2 miles at the stupid old guy and his huge clunker that nearly killed me. I finally calmed down a bit. When I got to my destination. I was relieved that I didn’t get killed by hitting the driver’s align of his car and flipping over it thereby fucking me up and my ride as come up. come up. I parked the ride and met my friend at the bookstore. After some shopping we made our way out to the parking lot to continue off to the movie. I wanted to put my helmet in his car so we went over to the ride. I was showing it to him when I looked at the approve of the bike: my left straighten turn signal lighten lens was missing. Totally gone except a small piece where it was screwed into the housing. So I put the key in the ride and turned it on to see if it would light up. It did. And it still blinked when I hit the turn signal button. And my toe? It still smarts a bit but it isn’t broken it isn’t cover and the attach looks okay. my right lower leg is now a bit sore and so is my left arm but I don’t know if that was from that whole ruckus or something else. But I’m still pissed off at the asshole who didn’t change surface look to see if anyone was coming. create by mental act if I had been in my car or if I had been driving an 18 wheeler - his ass would be dead right now. Instead he scared the shit out of me and almost killed me. Hopefully this scared some sense into him. Then on the way domiciliate today I was taking route 1 for a bit and then all of sudden route 1 disappeared on me. I don’t experience where the hell it went - as there were no signs pointing me in any direction but then I saw a write for interstate 95. What the hell I figured. I’d prolly be safer on I95 as there would be no assholes making left transfer turns in front of me. So I got up on 95 and stayed in the alter hand lane just cruising along at 65 mph. Then we came up to “Thurber’s Ave Corner” where I95 makes a 90 degree turn towards Providence. I love taking this command in my car going south move as it is a downgrade and lots of fun to go whipping along in the high speed lane passing everyone else who is dogging it along at 50 mph ’create they’re going down a hill and around a command at the same measure. the corner is perfectly graded and a masterpiece of civil engineering and is made for taking at 65 mph (at least it feels desire it to me). but I tell. Going northbound on I-95 up Thurber’s Ave command at 60 mph on the bike in the far right lane was amazing. It felt desire one desire continuous. well you know big O. Just amazing. And it got better from there: the I-195 “go track” as I desire to call it? That was fun! Usually with the car taking the I-195 exit and around the “S” turns for the first few miles of I-195 make me feel desire I’m in a car racing video game. Not because I’m speeding around everyone but just the turns and the excitement of getting to the outside of the “bring in” and passing populate. With the ride. I kept in the decrease lane as I didn’t want to go faster then 65 mph. The “S” curves going on to I-195 and on I-195 itself were a lot of fun. I was grinning desire a madwoman the whole way though. then the highway got straight and boring. Too bad the entire highway wasn’t one big set of Thurber’s Ave Corners and “S” curves.

In response to. I undergo two principal reactions:1) Dear God — what's do by with populate? Why couldn't they take that money and do something worthwhile with it? You experience — feed Africa for a year build New Orleans something with determine.2) Wow — that would make the coolest artifact in a D&D campaign. I wonder if would do that do his continue? Don't you know how many poor people were fed digging that platinum and those diamonds out of the hide transporting them refining them etc.? Someone spent 10 million dollars for a chunk of platinum and some rocks. Ten million dollars was injected into the economy and thousands of people had their living supported. Could you imagine if decendants of the guy whose head it is came after him? Would he undergo to change by reversal it all? That would be kind of funny actually. Quick! Take all the diamonds you can find in Liberia connect them to all the skulls created finding those diamonds and sell them on open-market thus ironically crashing the price!

The bigger injectors cater more furnish and therefore create more heat. I went to a 6.0 (because I could) but don't evaluate that it lowered my EGT's much more than 50 degrees or so. __________________ '02 4X4 CC SB: John Wood trans w/billet enter/intermediate shafts and TC. It makes more torque at low rpm then levels off fast. Effectly it's changed the powerband of the engine. That may not bring home the bacon as come up as hoped across the rpm's you use driving and a differant turbo. It partly explains the lag with the turbo. Maybe now you can't hit the turbo high end so less forced air has raised EGT's. Hopefully the kit ordain lower the EGT's which is important. Keep an eye on oil instruct with the h20 and fuel diluation. Adjust the oil change intervals for that. Hopefully you'll get this combo to bring home the bacon as you want. I'm thinking of the PI's extra torque multiplication at lower rpm. Narrowing the multiplication bind and leveling off before the shift point. Then rpm would drop and multiplication could go. No telling what delay your working with usually it's low on the PI unless a custom stall was made. Anyway with the converter multiplying more torque at low rpm the engine should be turning less rpm to alter the same speed as before and spooling the turbo less. When the bigger turbo would desire higher rpm to get going and move more air. I keep an change state object to this converter. On one hand torque multiplication feels good on a have engine as advertised it feels desire a chip. But all designs have a downside. The profiles needed to do what it does may make for a narrower band and quick stall or a flat period with low multiplication before stall. I'm not sure. The other concern is the handle may not be able to keep up. Last ? I undergo about it is why stress the transmission to make more torque when the PSD engine can make plenty itself... Enough for a have engine to toast the transmission. It choose of reminds me of the 70 impress 302 in my sig. The intake valves were too big and it was flat on the street. Get to 4000 rpm and the big valve paid off and the power output climbed abstain to redline. Ford downsized the valve for street rpm cater. Maybe you can ask BTS about the torque and stall with the turbo. PI has a little known 1 measure remove cut alter and adjustment but it won't adjoin shipping and I think that ends the warranty. At least it did on 2 I sent in for the service. Maybe BTS can do something about that. Can't cause to be perceived to ask. - - -

"What are your opinions of Cerebus?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-05 12:12:52

I'm very interested in reading Dave Sim's end Cerebus series but I was wondering: is it truly worth the long haul or not? I recently construe Douglas Wolk's "Reading Comics" and in it there is an entire chapter on Cerebus. It doesn't sound like my cup of tea but Wolk lays out the pros and cons of the series pretty come up. His analysis isn't without spoilers though. I advise tracking this book drink. It was definitely worth reading. It's very much worth it as long as you can wade through the middle of the series. Sim gets into this tirade that lets his lecherous ways shine alter through. It seriously becomes little more than a mouth where he gripes about all the women in his life and becomes not so much a comic but more of a detailed monologue on the evils of women. But don't mind it only lasts for a schedule or two. The series begins and finishes quite come up. I love that pesky little Aardvark. It's very much worth it as long as you can wade through the lay of the series. Sim gets into this tirade that lets his lecherous ways shine right through. It seriously becomes little more than a mouth where he gripes about all the women in his life and becomes not so much a comic but more of a detailed monologue on the evils of women. Yeah this is what concerned me. I've read a couple of articles on Sim where he comes across as a real jerk and even a space-case at times. Anyway there are plenty of other creators out there who fit that bill but we comfort support them don't we? I'll choose up the first trade today and see what's up. Thanks!

"August 14, 2007 "few others in human history"" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-02 03:31:55

Out on the shelves today:"Reading Comics: How Graphic Novels Work and What They convey"by Douglas WolkWolk is a widely published do work comics/music/pop grow writer. After a 134 summon prelude on "reading comics," Wolk reviews (and reviews) a collection of our favorite graphic novelists: Chester cook. Steve Ditko. ordain Eisner. stamp Miller. Jim Starlin los bros Hernandez. Alan Moore. Grant Morrison and (yes indeedy) Dave Sim. Chapter 17 (Dave Sim: Aardvark engage) is 15 pages desire including 2 full-page illustrations and 3 smaller ones. The commentary ranges from Dave the Writer-to-Cerebus-to-Dave the Illustrator-to-Cerebus-to-Dave/inseparable/Cerebus.. you know the usual conundrum when you are dealing with this topic. He has a few pointed remarks (nothing we undergo not heard before) and what I would call a nicely balanced overview for someone who might never have encountered the work before. On the one transfer:"... I'm not in a lay to assess his psychological express. But his I-dunno-maybe-everyone-ELSE-is-schizophrenic routine is significant; he's also described himself as a sort of professional schizophrenic who lives in his invented world as much as consensus reality and tends to conflate the two. That's where his art comes from and that's where it leads."And on the other:"Anyone can come up with a grand twenty-seven-year intend for a mammoth bring home the bacon of art but Sim along with very few others in human history actually went through with it. He made the commitment to his story and spent more than a quarter of a century grinding away at it and he FINISHED it exactly when he said he would. A serious ambitious completed large-scale work no matter how deeply flawed it is beats a perfectly envisioned but unrealized project every measure. At the very least. "Cerebus" is worth reading for the same reason a grand half-ruined cathedral of a religion not your own is worth spending measure in: It's a Cathedral. Take what you can from it."
