The playa is a rumor mill that works overtime and some of the rumors are persistent. The suicide was known to a number of people and has been discussed on several recent threads. What little I experience indicates that it was handled with sensitivity. I've not heard about the child abandonment. But when one child went missing for a few hours last year before the Uchronia destroy the whole city was asked to back up sight him the gates were closed and every available ranger was mobilized.
